Bring walking shoes, sandals are fine, hat, sunscreen, water, snacks, etc.

We will hike about a mile in on a dirt road that was the Del Mar to Yuma connection in times past.

For those interested, after we end our walk, you may continue on two more miles to a waterfall.

The walk is mostly level and easy.

Exit Freeway 15 on Mercy Road and take West to the T intersection at Black Mountain Road.

Get in the lane to go straight through the light into the entrance of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve.

There is a $3 self-pay parking fee (County resident seniors 62+ can apply for free parking permit).

Parking passes are available at any of the county camping and picnic parks or at the
Reservation and Information Center at 5500 Overland Ave., Suite 410.

Meet in the upper parking lot.
