Learn to make herbal soap using the traditional cold process method. We will walk through the safety factors of making and using a lye solution, discuss the variety of soapmaking oils, and participate in an herbal soapmaking demonstration. In addition we will discuss the variety of essential oils that contribute to an aroma-therapeutic soap bar and create your own soap ball with an essential oil of your choice. Learn how the finest handmade soaps are made and gain the confidence to begin making your own.
$170 class fee includes a $30 materials fee for all the goodies you will be taking home. All students will receive a 6 oz bar of the soap made in class, aromatherapy soap balls, a soap recipe to try at home, and a materials list with suppliers in Workshop I. More goodies In II.
San Diego native Cindy Christ is a certified herbalist, master soapmaker, aromatherapist, naturalist, educator and certified interpretive guide. Growing up in the canyons, fields, beaches, mountains, desert and river of Southern California nurtured Cindy’s love of all things natural.
She is a professional member of the Handcrafted Soapmaker and Cosmetic Guild, and founder and mentor of the Soapmaking Historical Guild. She is a program coordinator and instructor at the San Diego Natural History Museum and owner of Following Seasons Botanicals. Cindy’s herbal apothecary travels to farmers markets and garden shows where she shares her botanical interests with people looking for natural solutions to improve and maintain their health
